~ COMMUNITY ~
"A man of a right spirit is not a man of narrow and private views, but is greatly interested and concerned for the good of the community to which he belongs... "
- Jonathan Edwards
The FBC Manvel family strives to be an active member of the community to which we belong. We desire to reach out, not only to those in need, but to our community
as a whole. Jehovah-Jireh means "The Lord will provide." As our gracious Father provides our church family with the members and means to reach out to those
around us, it is our endeavor to do just that. Some examples of our efforts include:
- Partnering with a local school to provide Thanksgiving dinners for families in need.
- Partnering with a local school to provide Christmas gifts for children in need.
- Praying for those in our community.
- Working with local churches to gather school supplies for children.
- Facilitating a Free Community Health Screening.
- Collecting coats and blankets for area families.
- Organizing and hosting our annual Fall Festival for children.
- Hosting appreciation dinners for local emergency responders.
- Helping families in need through our food pantry and benevolence program.
- Organizing and hosting events such as God's Bunch for seniors, Friday Fun Night for youth, and Game Nights for the entire family.
- Partnering with and supporting local ministries for the betterment of our community.
- Organizing and hosting events for the enrichment and benefit of our community.
Jesus Himself said that even He "did not come to be served, but to serve" (Mark 10:45a) and demonstrated this time and time again. Whether it was through
turning water into wine, miraculous healings or feeding 5,000+ people using 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish, Jesus was the perfect example of what it meant to
have a servant's heart. He even demonstrated His servant attitude to His disciples when He, the Son of God, washed their feet (John 13:1-17).
How can we do anything less but serve others? Whether it is helping in a time of need, bringing joy to a person's life or just letting them know that someone
cares about them, we are to "serve one another in love" (Galatians 5:13b).
